Egg, 我们都知道是“蛋，卵”的意思。字典上的解释是“（鸟类的）蛋；（鱼、昆虫等的）卵；（用作食物的）禽蛋；（尤指）鸡蛋；卵子；卵细胞。其实egg除了作为名字外，还可以做动词，英文释义是：to throw eggs at somebody or something, especially to express disapproval；to incite somebody to do something， 即朝…扔鸡蛋；怂恿某人干某事；用法是 egg somebody on. 类似于incite/ encourage somebody to do something. 据说egg的动词用法源于古代斯堪的纳维亚语，和现代英语的edge一词同源。 不过，从语义的角度来说，这两个单词的联系并不明显。 但是在英文中，edge 本身也能这么用。 “to give an edge to” 即为 “to encourage”。
例句：
Bob didn’t want to jump, but his friends kept egging him on.
Bob 不想跳，但他的朋友一直在怂恿他跳。
He wouldn have thrown that stone if the other boys hadn egged him on.
要不是那些男孩子怂恿他，他不会扔那块石头。

关于egg，除了作为动词表示“怂恿”意思，还有其他用法，比如；
