初中课本教材上接触到关于used 的常用句型结构有used to do sth. ，be used to do sth. 以及be used to doing sth. 三个。不少同学乍一看可能会觉得有点迷惑，used to do sth. 还比较好理解，但是be used to do sth.和 be used to doing sth. 这两个可能就有点难了 。那么就一起来看看这三个句型结构在意思和用法上的区别吧。
第一个也是最简单的一个， used to do sth.
它所表示的意思是“过去常常做某事”，强调过去发生的事，所以一般用于描述发生在过去的事情， 比如
I used to walk to school every day .
以前我每天步行上学。
Mr. Zhang used to be an officer in the army .
张先生以前是部队里的一位军官。
I used to be afraid of the dark when I was
young . 以前小的时候，我很怕黑。
People in old times used to think that the

接着再看be used to do sth. 和 be used to doing sth.。 这两个句型在结构上非常相似，但是意思完全不一样，首先是主语不一样，be used to do sth. 主语一般是物，表示”(某物)被用于做某事”，而be used to doing sth. 的主语是人，表示”(某人)习惯于做某事”，例如
The machine is used to cut down trees.
这个机器是用来砍树的。
Wood can be used to make paper.
树木可以用于造纸。
