南京地区模印拼嵌画像砖墓墓内壁面用模印画像砖拼嵌成大幅砖画的东晋南朝墓葬。分布于南京市及附近的丹阳县等地。1960年,南京博物院在南京西善桥发现了内有"竹林七贤和荣启期"模印拼嵌砖画的南朝初年墓。1965和1967年又在江苏省丹阳县胡桥和建山两地发掘了3座南朝皇族的砖室墓,墓内都有大幅的模印拼嵌砖画。其做法是将画像按粉本分别模印在多块砖坯上，入窑烧成砖后，再拼嵌在墓壁上。这些砖画是研究东晋南朝绘画艺术、服饰制度等方面的重要实物资料。模印拼嵌砖画，是在1块单砖构成1幅图像的画像砖的基础上发展而成的。东晋时期开始出现由多块砖所构成的龙、虎图像,南京万寿村东晋永和四年（348）墓中的龙、虎图像由2至3块砖拼成，并有"龙"、"虎啸丘山"等榜题。以后用砖数日渐增多，到东晋末南朝初出现了由多达数十块到数百块砖构成的大幅画面。如西善桥墓中的"竹林七贤和荣启期"砖画，该画分两段，各长240厘米，高80厘米，对应地拼嵌在墓室左、右两壁。一壁为嵇康、阮籍、山涛、王戎4像,另一壁为向秀、刘灵（伶）、阮咸和荣启期4像,人物形象生动，个性鲜明，技法和风格与流传至今的晋代绘画摹本非常相似。有人推测是顾恺之或戴逵等名家的画本。南京地区的南朝大型皇室墓葬中，拼嵌砖画往往占了墓葬的全部墓壁，内容除"竹林七贤和荣启期"外，还有守门狮子，披铠武士，甲骑具装，羽人戏龙、戏虎，出行仪仗，骑马乐队等，技法和画风与西善桥墓的"竹林七贤"砖画相同。在龙、虎的画面中出现飞天的形象，说明受到佛教艺术的影响。
