结构事物系统的诸要素所固有的相对稳定的组织方式或联结方式。两个以上的要素按一定方式结合组织起来，构成一个统一的整体，其中诸要素之间确定的构成关系，就是结构。比如，分子中的各个原子有一定的空间排列方式；人体的各个器官有一定的排布、联系方式；社会经济的各个部门也有一定的组织形式等等。结构体现为要素的组合、总合、集合，诸多要素借助于结构形成系统。结构概念的内涵依系统类型和研究任务的不同而异。一般说来，结构有以下的特征：①稳定性。系统诸要素之间具有确定的稳固的联系，从而使系统具有相对不变性。由于系统结构的稳定性，该系统才得以完整地保存，一旦结构遭到破坏，就会导致该系统的消亡。②有序性。系统内部诸要素有规则的相互作用或相互替换性。当人们说系统中的每个要素都由作用于它的因果律所控制时，指的就是结构的有序性。③形式特征。结构是一种形式关系，可用数学方程来表达，并因而使从数学观点给系统下定义成为可能。基质不同和相互作用内容不同的系统,其结构可以是同样的,例如,氢原子结构与"地球-月球"系统的结构就是这样。结构不能脱离系统而独立存在，一定结构保持在一定系统类型的各种系统之中。结构是系统的本质方面。系统之成为系统取决于有确定的结构。系统的传递、复制、再造以确定的结构为依据。化学家正是依据结构式预言合成方式和合成物的特性。由于有结构存在，使得系统不等于其组分的简单总和。结构标志从部分到整体借以构成的有机性，是部分和整体之间相互联系的形式。通过结构的改变而使整体的性质改变，是由量变引起质变的途径之一。
